The liberal media in the US is largely focused on criticizing US President Donald Trump, while seemingly giving Beijing a pass, despite journalists being thrown out of the country, which begs the question: When are the press and the world going to hold China responsible for hiding the coronavirus outbreak and creating a delay that probably hastened the spread of the virus around the globe, and now threatens to take down the economies of the world?
There’s very little disagreement around the world that the decision by China to suppress the flow of information out of the country regarding the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, now known as COVID-19, resulted in a critical delay that allowed the virus to spread around the globe.
US National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien said that the cover-up by China “probably cost the world community two months to respond.”
Had the CPC been truthful, O’Brien added, “I think we could have dramatically curtailed what happened in China and what’s now happening across the world.”
Many American politicians are already speaking out suggesting there needs to be consequences for China for its withholding of information and Beijing’s lack of responsibility toward the world at large.
The liberal American media seems to be so caught up in their anti-Trump sentiment that scores of Americans believe their previously trusted sources of information have lost both their objectivity and credibility.
Back in the day when journalists weren’t so biased, or not forced to be by the news agency they work for, they engaged in hard-hitting and fair investigations that were focused on uncovering the truth and taking subjects to task.
Many people can’t understand why liberal news sources are not putting the blame on the virus outbreak where it squarely belongs: On China.
In the past, both conservative and liberal news sources would be joining the president in defending our country and taking China to task for their selfish and misguided practices that now seem all but certain to take down the economies of the entire world.
Not only did China not tell the world about the virus and try to suppress the information, as early as December, Beijing silenced doctors within their own country that were posting information to the world. One Chinese doctor who, early on, tried to inform his colleagues contracted the virus himself and ultimately died.
It has been reported that in the early stages Beijing also pressured Brazil, Russia, India, and South Africa not to take preventative measures. Beijing objected to the World Health Organization sharing information with Taiwan about the outbreak, all in order to attempt to achieve the Chinese cultural imperative of saving face.
By not pressing China on these issues, the liberal media is enabling and doing Beijing’s bidding on deflecting blame from where it squarely belongs.
Many are suggesting their way to make China pay would be for American businesses to start moving their operations back to the US mainland and that other nations should follow suit.
Not only the US, but the main lesson nations around the globe should learn from this pandemic is the danger of allowing critical manufacturing, including goods related to medicine and infrastructure, to be at the mercy of a totalitarian regime that has no qualms about suppressing the truth and information to suit its own objectives.
The liberal US media is labeling Trump “racist” and “xenophobic” over his choice of calling the coronavirus “the China virus” or the “Chinese virus.”
Yet, viruses have always been referred to by the location from which they originated. It is not incorrect to use this term, nor would it be incorrect to refer to it as the “Wuhan virus.”
But the media is missing the bigger picture here. China is trying to rewrite history.
They have tried to accuse the US military of bringing the virus into China.
They have thrown American journalists from major newspapers out of the country in order to further suppress the truth.
Let’s not forget that this is a totalitarian communist regime that has no respect for human rights. That locks up Christians and Muslims in prison camps and tries to “re-orientate” them.
If the liberal media was being truthful and really calling things the way they are, it might even call the virus by this name: “The Totalitarian-Communist Party-with-No Respect-for-Human-Rights Virus from China.”
